MB Products Custom 10.5" Chrome Short Shocks.
MB Products is a small company that makes a great custom product. If you are thinking of purchasing shorter aftermarket stocks you need to read this first. I purchased the popular 10.5" shocks in order to lower my bike without sacrificing ride comfort. I switched back to shocks after riding a rigid setup with strut bars for a while. Prior to purchasing and installing the MB Short Shocks I had 11 inch Progressive 412 series shocks combined with Scootworks 1.5" lowering brackets. I wanted comfort but also wanted to lower my bike just a little bit more than I could achieve with the progressives so I tried MB Products. Comparing the Progressives to the MB Product shocks the MB shocks look on par for quality with Progressive shocks. The chrome is great and the shocks function beautifully. Note that the MB Shocks are not preload adjustable. It is worth your time to contact MB Products via email or the telephone and discuss the stiffness you will need based on your model bike, weight, and two up riding habits. Just to confirm, the ride on these shocks is awesome. The MB Shocks ride just as good as my 412 progressives but they are lower and cost less quite a bit less! Not to knock on Progressive but even if you do not go with the lowest 10.5" shocks the other standard lengths made by MB Products can save you quite a bit of scratch over the Progressives while giving you just as good ride comfort. These are incredibly popular shocks for Honda VTX riders, but MB Products of course makes them for the Shadow Spirit as well as many other brands of motorcycle. Make sure you tell the folks over at MB Products what bike you have and be sure to answer all of their questions and you will not be disappointed. I am incredibly happy with this purchase. I have been riding on these shocks for years with no trouble. I can't notice a difference in ride comfort when compared to my previous Progressive shocks. The only major difference between these and the progressives is that the progressives are adjustable and these are of course shorter. I highly recommend the nitrogen filled gas MB Products shocks in all lengths. The MB Products short shocks are available in both Chrome and Black as well as various lengths including 10.5", 10.75", 11", and 11.5". They also shorten factory shocks as well.
***Note than in order to run the 10.5" MB Shocks with the 1.5" Scootworks bracket I had to modify my sub-frame for clearance (including cutting and grinding). I also use Progressive .25" travel limiters because I can bottom on when riding 2 up (requires dis-assembly of shock to install).
