Gear Shift Lever Adjustment

Adjusting the Gear Shift Lever

To assist those who need to adjust the height of the gear shift lever, I offer these two pics to help explain.

Remove the left engine case side cover by removing the lower hex bolt, and pull the "hairpin" that holds the top of the cover on.

The adjustment nut only provides a small amount of adjustment, so use this for fine tuning AFTER you remove the bolt holding the linkage socket to the serrated shift shaft. Slide the socket off the shaft, then slide it back on 1 or 2 serrations higher or lower. Replace and tighten the bolt on the linkage socket, then fine tune the adjustment with the adjustment nut.

Replace the side cover and you're all set to go.
